Welcome to Foodfull Book with another new chutney recipe.

Many years ago my best friend Devanand used to make an awesome INSTANT RECIPE OF IMLI CHUTNEY for me and serve it with some yummy Aloo Tikis.

Before get started lets dive in brief of Imli Chutney:

Imli ki khatti meethi chutney is a major part of all the Indian Chaat Recipes which are made by the roadside and it is extremely tasty because the chutneys are absolutely Chat Pata. There is a tangy evening snacks and also can be served with as an accompaniment with a lot of street food snacks like Kachoris, Samosas, Potato Vadas, and Parathas, etc.

This chutney can be slathered on bread to make Indian style Sandwiches, sprinkled over Dahi Wadas.

Imli chutney for chaat like Bhel Puri, Sev Puri, Dahi Batata Puri are unthinkable without these chutneys with their many different flavors and tastes.

Servings: 300 ml

Today, I am going to be making the same technique for you.

So, let's take a look at the Ingredients of Imli Chutney:

400gm Red Dates (Kajur) (seedless and chopped)

100gm Jaggery

50gm Tamarind (Imli)

1/4 tsp. Asafoetida (Hing)

2 tsp. Red Chilli Powder

2 tsp. Coriander Cumin Seed Powder

Salt to taste

Water

So, how do you make this Imli ki khatti meethi chutney then let's get started with it.

Procedure :

The first step is tamarind(imli) that you have at home you have to soak it.

TIP: To get good nice pulpy chutney you need the tamarind to be soaked in warm water for atleast 15 to 20 minutes.

So, this is the first step towards making the Recipe of Imli Chutney.

Nowadays, you get seedless dates in the market just buy a packet of that and chop it up.

TIP: When you chopped dates it cooks faster nothing that is simple thing.

Now, let's mix all the ingredients step by step in the pan.

  1. First dates goes into the pan then add 2 cups of water and distorted well.
  2. Let this come to a boil before you have to add all the other ingredients to the dates.

    NOTE: Let it simmer for 20 minutes.

  3. Thouroghly wash the tamarind so just get rid of all the strands everything on the tamarind and now put it into boil water where dates are already you put it in.

  4. Now, you have to put the jaggery and all the seasoning ingredients salt, coriander and cumin seed powder, red chilli powder, hing, and asserted aura or stir this.
  5. NOTE: Let it simmer on slow flame for atleast 20 to 30 minutes till your dates are absolutely soft.

  6. Then, let it cool down completely.

  7. Your chaaty mixture is nicely cool down and now you have to add it in blender jar and ride it into a smooth paste.

  8. Now, you have to sieve this pulp so that you can get rid of any kind strand.

  9. Then mix everything well. You will get finger licking good thick sweet tangy imli ki khatti meethi chutney.

It is an easy recipe to make.

So, you don't have to worry if you don't find it in an Indian Store you can make this recipe of imli chutney and store it for atleast 2 to 4 months in the freezer.

HOW TO USE IMLI CHUTNEY FOR CHAAT?

When you needed you can just scoop and add few tbsp of hot water to bowl and mix it to bring to the consistency.

You can use it food snacks like Bhel Puri, Potato Wadas, Papdi Chaat, Sev Puri, and many more.

HOW TO STORE IMLI CHUTNEY?

Take a glass jar and clean it and make sure that is moist free. Transfer imli ki khatti meethi chutney to it. Tightly cover it and store it for atleast 2 to 4 months in the refrigerator.
